The Whendays: “Untru Love II”

The Whendays toe the line between R&B and ambient electro pop like they painted it on the ground themselves. “Untru Love II” is part pop song, part chill out track, and unquestionably legit. The self-directed vid serves as an effective counterpoint, capturing the relaxed mundanities of a just slightly too cold Sunday afternoon. Blurred synth stabs and stuttering drums hit around the plaintive questions of the vocals in a style that’s reminiscent of the current stable of artists on Triangle Records, but also differentiated by its more straightforward and explicitly human, even sentimental tact. Contentment, uncertainty, and paranoia vie for dominance, replacing each other with each tempo change and breakdown.
