Power Animal: Better Water (Lushlife Remix)

Fresh from the exotic wilds of Philadelphia, comes Lushlife‘s new remix of Power Animal‘s “Better Water.” This remix is featured beside 4 additional remixes and 6 new songs on Exorcism, Power Animal’s upcoming release on Crash Symbols. While the original track made a splash last year with its easygoing, dynamic groove and memorable remolding of an especially earnest Willie Nelson sample, the remix takes it to a whole other ethereal level. Flowing seamlessly in between the funky touches of the drum-driven sections and patches of glittering haze dominated by what the original’s already twisted vocal samples might sound like if they’d been piped through the Wizard of Oz’s multimedia PA system. There’s a lot going on here and the complexity of the track might seem a bit daunting, but it stays coherent throughout its compact running time, clocking a full minute shorter than the original. Lushlife has successfully extrapolated on what Power Animal did so well already and further expanded the track’s more sampledelic qualities.
