Geoffrey O’Connor: “Proud”
Melbourne’s Geoffrey O’Connor – also a member of The Crayon Fields – couldn’t possibly sound more dispassionate in his new video for “Proud,” which dropped last week. ”I can’t tell that people flirt with me, because I’m miserable,” he coolly intones, against a heady backdrop of sax-fueled angst. So tragedy glam.
The purple-hued video itself is an ode to blasé chic, from O’Connor’s mirrored browline glasses to a scene where he takes pills featuring his own likeness (meta!) on the bottle before finally OD’ing. Good thing that bombastic, borderline cheesy ‘80s synths keep the track from being a total downer.
